Personal Scale

  • Engaged
    • Close to a character or item.
    • Required for melee combat or interacting with items.
    • Engaging requires 1 maneuver (from Short).
  • Short Range
    • Several meters.
    • Thrown weapons and small firearms are most accurate at this range.
    • Can talk without raising voices.
    • Moving within short range requires 1 maneuver (from Medium).
  • Medium Range
    • Several dozen meters.
    • Reliable pistols can hit.
    • Need to talk loudly at this range.
    • Moving between short and medium range requires 1 maneuver.
  • Long Range
    • Further than a few dozen meters.
    • Blaster rifles and weapons that use Gunnery can hit this far.
    • Moving between medium and long range requires 2 maneuvers.
  • Extreme Range
    • High-tech sniper rifles and vehicle mounted weaponry can hit.
    • Cannot hear each other.
    • Moving between long and extreme range requires 2 maneuvers.

Planetary Scale

  • Close Range
    • Slightly further than extreme range in the personal scale.
    • From a few dozen meters to several kilometers.
    • Most planetary battles are in close range.
    • Dogfighting also happens in close range.
  • Short Range
    • Several dozen kilometers.
    • On a planet it’s out of line of sight.
    • Just out of dogfighting range and beyond starfighter weapons range.
    • Self-propelled weapons can still reach at this range.
  • Medium Range
    • Within planetary confines it’s about 50km. In space, a few hundred kilometers.
    • Ideal range for large guns on capital ships.
  • Long Range
    • On a planet it’s about 100 to 200 kilometers away and just out of sensor range.
    • In space it’s several thousand kilometers away.
    • Only the largest capital ships can engage at this range.
  • Extreme Range
    • In space, both sides still have the chance to break off and escape.
