Acid and Mouse Droids

We were out of the council and right away Jern asked if we could go shopping. He said that he needed some more advanced tools to do whatever mechanics stuff he needs to do. That's when Varad got all nervous, and hesitantly told us that the farmstead may have had to help pay for whatever he pulled to get us out. So now the farmstead only had whatever float was sitting at our property.

The others didn't have a lot of money on hand so I paid for a couple of tools for Jern, which I was fine with. After my promotion with the Rangers I had some money to spare. Then we had the issue of getting back to our farmstead. Jern said that Satchel Paige rented out speeders and we decided it was our best option and walked over to Satchel's.

We acquired the speeder and headed home. The weather, however, had different plans. The lightning got a lot worse as we flew towards home and a tree fell right in our path! Arron pushed the throttle to max and we flew just under it as it crashed to the ground, only clipping the radar dish. Jern quickly got out and started fiddling around with the dish and we were flying again in no time with a fully functioning dish.

The rain only got worse and when we were almost back I heard the sounds of a bantha close by. On the other side of the road Vuni was riding his bantha and Adi was with him, “Do you have any sandwiches?” Vuni asked as we pulled up beside them.

“Yes Vuni, you can come to our place and we can make you some more sandwiches.” We picked up Adi and finished the journey home with Vuni behind us on his bantha.

Now we had to decide what we were going to do with the rest of our day. I was worried about Djinn Monka’s health as it was still deteriorating. With the new lead from the council about the acid, I thought that we should research it more thoroughly. We decided that Arron would come with me to get a sample of the acid from the ruins. Meanwhile Varad hung out with Jern who was beginning work on a piece of armour for Varad.

We took the varactyl out to the ruins but the storm was still going strong and we had to avoid various debris along the way. We were about half way there when a tree fell towards us again! Our varactyl Jure panicked and both of us fell to the ground. That was when Arron saw the mouse droid. He charged forward and smashed it into pieces with his blast knuckles. I leapt back onto Jure and calmed him down, urging him forward, bounding past Arron. There was a crash in the forest and I saw a flash of blue, dashing away from us. I quickened my pace, almost missing another mouse droid hiding in the undergrowth. Jure swivelled his head and put his beak straight through the droid chassis, bursting it into thousands of pieces.

I tried to follow the mysterious blue intruder but I heard the sound of a speeder starting up and I was too far behind to give chase. I got off of Jure and made a plan with Arron, he would continue on Jure to get the sample and I would attempt to track the intruder.

I followed for a bit but the tracks were hard to find and I realised very quickly that I could not continue, so I headed back to the trail and I was fast enough that I caught up with Arron and we headed back home together with the acid.

The next day I began work on studying the acid trying to discover an antidote. Dah’lia came over to help me in my research. Varad went to town to try to talk with Director Corto, Arron went with him and Jern drove to town to return the rented speeder.

Our research proved fruitful but it took most of the day. Just after lunch I got a group call from Adi saying that Varad was in trouble. That was unsettling, I hoped that Varad was okay but there wasn’t much I could do about it from the farmstead. Then the others called saying that Varad was in the hospital and his arm got destroyed by an assassin from the Gorenla Kajidic with a disruptor pistol. I felt bad that I wasn’t there, but we needed to find an antidote for Djinn Monka and Ojib.

The next morning Jern finished off Varad’s armour and we headed to town to pick up Varad as he insisted upon going to the ECC with the information he got from Corto. It was, of course, storming when we got there and what we saw was completely unexpected. There were burn marks in the walls and in the middle of the yard there was a ship with the markings of the pirates.

I leapt over the wall on Jure and I landed gracefully on the other side. I skillfully manoeuvred Jure around the perimeter finding that the pirates had guards patrolling around the wall. I cautiously snuck my way toward the main building avoiding the security cameras as I went.

I peeked through the window and saw some groggy gamorreans and most importantly Jaleel was with them. I called the others and told them what I saw. Now we came up with a plan. Jern jury rigged the comm to get a couple of calls out and he called in my ranger squad that happened to be in the area and Varad asked Corto to bring in some backup just in case the pirates got away on their ship.

Then lightning struck the pirates generator and all the power surged burning Jaleel's toast. This created an opening and Arron climbed over the wall with Jern. Jern fell but he wasn’t hurt too bad and landed on the right side of the wall. We were going to sneak onto the ship and disable the engines so the pirates couldn’t escape. Meanwhile Varad and my rangers would assault the main building.

I silently walked over to the ship on Jure and saw that there were two klatooinians guarding the ramp. I charged in with Jure and he sent one of them flying while he chomped the other one, nobody noticed.

With the guards out of the way I got off of Jure and left him outside while I boarded the ship with Arron and Jern. When we got inside there was this creepy noise of skittering in the vents and bumping in the walls. It really spooked me and we were all on edge.

We entered the engine room and then they attacked. Vents started opening up with mouse droids firing lasers from inside the vents. Arron reacted quickly and started to blast one of the vents and there were several droid parts raining from the ceiling. But, the mouse droids kept on firing and Jern was looking bad. I aimed my rifle at another vent and fired, missing the mouse droids but I hit the vent in just the right way causing it to collapse behind the wall. Jern already dashed to the mechanics port and was messing with cables trying to disable the engine.

The mouse droid's numbers were significantly diminished but there was still another vent that mouse droids were shooting out of. Arron turned and aimed his fire toward the other vent and bits of metal and droid parts started to rain out of that vent too. As the blaster fire coming from the vents faded Arron dashed out of the engine room headed for the cockpit. I made sure no other mouse droids were coming, saw that Jern had succeeded and followed Arron.

Jern caught up with us and we entered the cockpit together finding a droid attempting to pilot the ship. We aimed our guns and forced it to surrender. Jern started asking the droid questions about the pirates but we were getting nowhere. The only thing we figured out was that he was trying to stop Jern from disabling the engines.

The rangers were very successful and with a bit of help from Varad they had already forced the pirates to surrender. I assume I will be receiving a report from them soon with the details.

Now we just need to finish the cure and find out where the members of the ECC are.

After action report from squad 7 of the Erimian Rangers

Reported by Dace.

Members: Dace (Mon Calamari), Haddock (Ishi Tib), Hal (Nautolan), Al (Nautolan), and Goby (Quarren)

It was an average patrol, we didn’t see anything out of the ordinary (again). But then, our comm started to beep, we were getting a call for help! I snatched the comm and answered the call, “This is Dace from patrol seven, what do you need?” I could hardly hold in my excitement, this was a direct call, Not just a relay from the HQ. There was a bit of static and then I heard the voice of a Kel Dor on the other end, “We are in need of assistance at the ECC farmstead, are you able to get here?”

“Sure thing! We’re only a few minutes away!” I hung up and turned my speeder bike around the others following my lead.

“What do they need help with?” Haddock asked in his low steady voice.

“I didn’t ask but I’m sure it’s important, they were directly calling us.” I replied.

“Of course you didn’t ask.” Haddock shook his head.

“How do they have our direct comm number?” Hal wondered.

“I don’t know, it was a Kel Dor who called.” I answered.

Al piped up, “Isn’t one of Vreck’s friends a Kel Dor?”

“It doesn’t matter how they called us, we got a call and we’re going to help,” said Goby.

It didn’t take us long before we arrived at the farmstead. A human who was missing an arm was standing near the gate and motioned for us to turn off our bikes. “What’s the situation?” I asked him.

“There are a bunch of pirates in there and Vreck, Jern and Arron are trying to disable their ship so they can’t escape, we need to get ready to assault the main building and take out the main force.”

“You are with Vreck!” I exclaimed.

“Yes, I thought that’s what we told you on the call.” Varad replied.

“So, how are we going to get in?” I asked. My question was quickly answered when we approached the gate and it swung open by itself.

I think Varad tried to order out some sort of formation, but he wasn’t making any sense so we just went into a basic stealth position to prepare for the attack. Apparently Al didn’t get the memo and he stood out in the open for a bit too long and an alarm sounded. We were forced to begin the attack!

The rest of us started to take snipes at the guards bursting out of the door while Al jumped into cover, we took out three as they exited the door. Then the pirates returned fire, they were very inaccurate and only manage to graze Haddock’s shoulder meaning that he had to hunker down and patch himself up.

Varad was shooting at the pirates but he wasn’t hitting anything, then he saw something and ran off, luckily we didn’t need him anyway. We mopped up the rest of the pirates outside and moved across the grounds scanning the area to make sure there weren’t anymore around the house. We took positions around the door and prepared to breach. I heard a commotion inside and took advantage of it. I kicked down the door and we stormed in shooting a couple of goons and taking the building by surprise.

We had the building under lockdown in seconds and saw that Varad had also found his way inside. Jaleel was bleeding from his ears for some reason, I don’t know why they were bleeding, I thought that was weird.

Another successful mission for squad 7!
