We decided that the next thing to do would be to go to our land and set up our camp. We got Adi back from the Herdmaster Dah’lia and found out that the Herdmaster wanted to rent part of our land, which of course we allowed. On our way in the land we met varactyls which had looked opposing but turned out friendly. We set up camp at our designated spot and throughout the construction of it Adi behaved.
The next day we left Ojib and Adi at the camp and set out getting our hydro power enabled into the rapids. We built a bridge on our smaller river which wasn’t too much effort. We looked around to find a spot to place our hydro power generator and Mr. Lucre slipped down towards the ledge, I tried to save him but only managed to get him going down a less steep slope but he still went over the edge. But it turned out that he fell onto a lower rock outcropping perfect fo our generator.
We immediately set about securing the generator in the water so that it could bring power to our camp when enormous tentacles appeared out of the river. Mr. Rotchkur ran back while the rest of us took it on at short range combat. Mr. Nadar did some nice shooting at first which I did not, Mr. Rotchkur got taken by a tentacle and Mr. Lucre got whipped by another. More appeared out of the water making a total amount of visible tentacles four. Mr. Nadar infuriated the beast enough for it to raise it’s head above the water to look at us with one big menacing eye. I gave that eye a very ugly beating with my weapon, undoubtedly, it was a horrible experience for the creature. Mr. Rotchkur finished it by spreading acid down it’s throat, he also managed to not fall into the water with it.
After we were finished with the squid thing we finished what we had come to do as well we caught fish for our lunch with leftovers and found a carving in the rock most definitely made by something with intelligence and tools. After our lunch we returned to the camp and the others ate while we told them what had happened.
I spent the next month with Adi and worked in the fields. At one point in the month we were invited to name some baby varactyls. While I had been working in the fields Mr. Lucre bought parts for a utility vehicle and Mr. Rotchkur built it.
