We spent over a week at the remote Rebel base. Huyang-2 was a fascinating teacher, and I even learned a few lightsaber techniques from him. It turns out his memory module is a corrupted backup of a Jedi droid lost during the Clone Wars. He does not contain all the data, but mainly the construction portions. He mentioned it might be possible to recover more data with a good enough slicer, but he was not certain.
So apart from lightsaber work and training, I spent a significant amount of time meditating and resting up after our harrowing escape, and trying to process our experiences. There are many loose ends on Balmorra, and part of me is very anxious for my homeworld. Have I abandoned my people? Will Baron Telmarr and the other Balmorran loyalists manage without us?
During my meditations I focused on Master Xenrad's instructions, and I worked on using the Force enhance my physical abilities. When I concentrate, I am starting to feel stronger, more coordinated, and my reflexes are improving. For the most part, I kept to myself – I think I needed a break from the team, having lived so closely with them for these last few months, and probably heading into another major conflict shortly.
I spoke at length with Compatriot when she was off-duty. She was saddened about the loss of the Swift estate, though very happy that I made it out alive. I told her about Damaria and my confusion and worry about the future. She listened well, like she always does – probably why she makes a great intelligence agent – and just told me to be patient and not force anything. And enjoy life, right now, the way it is. Easy for her to say, and hard for me – I have always been the idealistic dreamer.
She also seemed very interested in hearing about Fox, Via, and the death of Agent 63, along with my brief recollections of the Inquisitor. She wished I had paid more attention to the Star Destroyers in orbit as well, but my mind had been on other, more pressing matters! She is already working on plans for our return to Balmorra, but she had lost some of her contacts in the recent upheavals.
We are currently flying to a secret Rebel Base; at this point all I know is that we are to report to Major Yaylor, a sullustan leader. The rebels are always low on manpower, and we just happen to be available right now!

It has been almost non-stop action since we arrived on [redacted]. When our shuttle arrived at the coordinates provided, we had to enter a narrow canyon. Something was jamming our comms, and the slave controls, so we had to fly in without guidance. I was co-piloting with Tor, and the way was tricky. But the Force guided me, and Sprend eliminated some aggressive flying creatures.
Our arrival at the base was good – we received compliments on our flying, and we spoke to several interesting people connected to the base. I was bumped into by some bothan by the medbay (I was instantly suspicious – I have never trusted their political games), and noticed a very attractive doctor in the medbay. I decided not to stop and chat, since Damaria was with me, and I had just asked to take her out for a drink at the mess hall.
The mess hall was an interesting place with music, drinks and gambling, though the “Rust Duster” was basically fruit juice. It tasted good, though, and it was probably good that our minds were sharp for the mission ahead of us! The barkeep was a funny fellow, and I definitely enjoyed his company.
An annoying hotshot, Torrentz, seemed to feel intimidated by me, and was rather rude. I convinced him to join us at the gambling table, and his cockiness resulted in the rest of us getting a bit richer. Tor and Sprend joined half way through, and I think they managed to earn some cash, too.
It was about time for us to meet for our first assignment: a recon sweep on speeders. Damaria and I paired up, and I must admit I felt a bit competitive and tried to outrace Tor and Sprend in the other. Despite my lack of training, I felt I definitely had the edge, and the Force helped me out a bit along the way.
We ended up discovering something that was transmitting a signal, and marked its location. Tor was working on it, but he seemed a bit nervous after. We also came across an Imperial probe droid. Sprend took it out almost instantly, but obviously it had been here for awhile – on the horizon we saw an invasion force! Not exactly what I expected…
We quickly got on the comms and described what we were seeing, and how things were being deployed. We raced back, avoiding the TIE's blazing in, with Sprend and Tor almost falling behind.
There was not much time, and everyone was scrambling back at the base. We were the only ones without a real assignment, so I volunteered our group for a crazy mission: blow up the canyon passage. Explosives installed in the walls just needed hands to push the detonator.
We sprinted down the tunnels, through the chaos, with the sound of bombardments on the planet above. Some detonations had caused a partial tunnel collapse, with some Alliance soldiers caught in the rubble. I yelled at the others to keep going, and I stopped to help. As I turned, Sprend started arguing with me – terribly odd. I simply ignored him, but his strange complaining interfered with my concentration and several people remained stuck in the rubble. I was sure that if I had quiet, and cooperation, it would have been simple to rescue them. Disgusted, and shooting Sprend a dark look, I told him we should catch up with the others – time was not on our side.
It is a good thing we did not stay behind long; as we rounded a bend we saw two huge creatures pounce down on Tor and Damaria from a gaping hole in the ceiling – the same flying creatures that attacked our ship earlier! They had not been so tough when we were in a ship, but with personal weapons these beasts were vicious.
Sprend laid down some heavy fire while I ran towards our teammates, lightsaber ignited. One beast attacked me with claws, and I reeled back in pain. I stayed in a fairly defensive position and mainly dodged about until Sprend finally took it down. Hurray for stims…
