A very interesting few day!
My mysterious contact known only as Kova wanted to know how the toxin was coming along. I told him I had made a new breakthrough on the time release formula, but it still was not perfect.
At the Raging Rancor Catina Smi'ldron told me that someone was interested in the Dentriton Toxin I had been experimenting with. “Academically speaking” he said. I told him it was too unstable to be marketed, but he kept pressing, trying to convince me to meet the potential buyer. I bought him another drink and thanked him for his concern, then turned to leave. He quickly placed a bony hand on my shoulder and tried to turn me around. This was very unlike him. I turned my head and glared at him, which cut off his rambling. I then gingerly plucked his greasy fingers from the mantle of my robe and let the limb drop, all the while keeping a beady gaze on him.
I suddenly felt quite contaminated and in need of a shower. I strode out of the bar and returned home, muttering the whole way. I was already in the door and halfway to the kitchen before I saw him. A Shistavenen stood over my (now) unlocked medicine bureau. He had found the latest version of the modified Dentriton Toxin. The vial with the capsule was in his hand. He was poised, but made no move to flee. We watched each other, neither wanting to make the first move. Was this why Smi'ldron was so insistent on talking to me, to prevent me from discovering this intruder? I pondered this question for a moment, and in flash the stopper of the vial was removed and the capsule disappeared into his mouth.
“No!” I screamed. This foolish thief had no idea what he had just done. But he was unperturbed. Rather, he bowed gracefully, then flourished his cape and disappeared into the shadows. I ran after him, but all I found was an open window in the loft of the warehouse.
I was positive that was the last I would ever see of him. Imagine my surprise when a Rebel Cell came banging on my door the very next day, with a sedated Shistavenen who was suffering from a modified version of Dentriton Toxin. Wonders never cease. What was a wonder to me was how they found me at all. Regardless, among their numbers was a noble Duro who I felt an immediate kinship with.
I told them I might be able to help them, but explained that the equipment needed was not powered and unusable. Plus, we did not have the blank platelets needed for the rewriting procedure process that I imagined my machinery was capable of. But this was a motivated group of individuals, and within an hour they had the machinery up and running, and soon Ichor was being pumped into the young wolfman.
As a sign of gratitude, they offered me a place among their ranks which I quickly grabbed up. Any group that can produce results that quickly are powerful allies. And now that my machinery is up and running, there is no limit to the amount of research that I'll be able to conduct.
The Shistavenen (Brown Fox, as he's called) still hasn't come to, but I imagine I'll have a list of questions for him when he does.
