Damn. I have got to train harder.

Compatriot contacted us yesterday. Said there was a mission for us to go on tonight. (Why do we never get a heads-up on these things?) There's an Imperial facility in town that creates large, bad machines. There was a guy (Arbrax Fenthar - why can't people just have ordinary names??) that developed a prototype shielding device to protect these big machines. She wanted us to (in no particular order) sneak in, get the plans for the shields, remove the prototype shields, then make the guy who made the shields join the Rebellion. All in a night's work, amiright?

We made our way to the facility (sans Dash - just where is that kid??) and zip-lined in from a nearby rooftop. I had no trouble making my way across and landed with some finesse on the other side. And that was about it for my usefulness that night. (Damaria somehow got hung up in the middle of the line and just wobbled there. How do you mess up gravity??)

The rest of the night consisted of me listening at doors, opening doors, sneaking down hallways, and waving everyone on. I'm sure I'm exaggerating but that's what it felt like. Wait, there was one time where I got sloppy and didn't listen at a door before I opened it. Of course, there was a droid right there. I tried to stab it with my stylus, but it just bounced off. Sprend opened fire and the droid was no more.

That was basically what happened every time we encountered something. We all looked shocked, Sprend opened fire, then we moved on.

And it wouldn't bother me so much, except I could have been using this time to track down Via. Or Ysanne. Or Vinny. I like spending time with these guys, but the whole outing felt like a bit of a waste when the lives of our friends were possibly in danger.

Anyways. Enough mewling. Tor was able to open all the locks we encountered. (Guess I don't need my lockpick set as long as we've got our mechanic around.) Then we found a computer and Tor hacked into that. It told us to go to another computer, so we did that. On the way there, we were shadowing behind some patrolling guards. I got to thinking about Via again and a new way I might be able to… At the last minute I notice a hidden passage way leading off the hallway with where fresh guards are walking straight towards us. I quickly shove us backwards, and we squish into an alcove. And wait. And wait. And wait. There was no sound of alarm, so I sneak my cute little wolf nose out and the coast is clear. Looks like I caught sight of those troopers just in time.

So we get to the new office and Tor is able to move the needed files from their terminal onto his datapad. Then we see a family picture of Dash with his parents. That made us go, “Hmh.” I wonder if this will come back to haunt us.

After what felt like 12 hours later, we used the secret hallway to gain access to the facility where those large machines are built. We shoot some more robots, and I'm ready for the obstacle course that lies before us. But everyone else is too scared, so we start to sneak down more hallways. Painfully slowly. We found more droids and human too. We killed the droids and Swift fracked up that guy's mind pretty bad. He didn't even seem to notice as Sprend stripped his armour off him.

Eventually we found the place where the shield were being kept. They were using some kind of wild animal to guard them. So, rather than killing the beast, Sprend decided to tame it and tried to ride it.

I don't think I'll ever understand that guy.

But it worked. I had told Jumper where to bring the vibro-van earlier on in the night. It took him several hours, but he was able to get the clearance to drive right up to the loading bay doors. So, we moved all the shields into the van. Sprend tried to fit his new pet gundark into the van, but that didn't work. Tried tying him to the roof. Tried disguising him as a hood ornament. Eveyrthing. He had fallen, hard for that thing. Finally Swift had enough and he walked out. The rest of us followed. Sprend was last.

We devised a brilliant plan where everyone would pose as Imperial people, and they would bring be in magnacuffs to Fenthar as a security breach. I could see this ending real well, so of course I obliged.

Oddly enough, the plan actually kinda worked. The details are kinda hazy, but I remember Fenthar being pretty angry at us, and every time I tried to say anything, he bit my head off and reached for his gun.

By this point, I really didn't care much about this Madar-wannabe. He was pissed off because he failed, AGAIN. We were offering him a way out and he didn't like it. Fine. Take your life. Or, take a shot at us and let Sprend take your life. There were other lives I cared about so much more than this guy's. But we stuck it out and eventually won him over. He agreed to stay at the facility and feed the rebels intel. I'm not sure who took the fall for the missing data plans, but I think the disappearance of the shields was somehow pinned on Sprend's pet gundark.

We got home and found Dash still at the bar. (Does he have a key or something?) He said he couldn't go home because his block had been roped off and his parents were gone.

Frak. Serious shit, ya know? I don't think this kid needs anything more like this going on right now.
