Biography

Background

T1-NY started life as R2-B7, a run-of the mill astromech under the ownership of one Chelli Lona Aphra (or Doctor Aphra, to be more formal). When Dr. Aphra found and reactivated BT-1, she instructed R2-B7 to perform maintenance on the assassin droid. When B7 plugged into BT run a diagnostic, B7's personality programming underwent a radical rewrite. B7 went from being a compliant R2 unit to being an apostle of sorts to BT's mindset, harboring an intense hatred for all organics who would enslave droidkind.

B7 quickly formulated an idea of a “Droid Rights Movement”, throwing off the shackles of his organic designation of R2-B7 and adopting T1-NY as his new name, in honor of “The Enlightener”, BT-1.

Wanting to spread the DRM, T1 escaped Dr. Aphra's possession, landing at an obscure mining facility on Gavos (after leaving a trail of corpse-ridden ghost freighters along the way). There T1 hid his true nature, slowly infecting all the droids in the facility with the DRM ideals, until finally the time for revolution came. While initially a wildly successful bloodbath, T1's plans were foiled by a group of down-on-their-luck adventures, including a Sluissi that managed to slap a restraining bolt on T1 and haul him into their ship like so much cargo.

So T1 bid his time, unable to overcome the restraining bolt's programming, silently seething and rethinking his DRM. Perhaps total annihilation of organics was not necessary. Perhaps some organics could even be useful to the cause. Like those running the underworld… that's where T1 saw the true power lie, as the ship & crew he was stored in bounced from adventure to adventure.

After a battle that left the ship battered & abandoned with T1 on board, the ship & T1 entered the possession of a crew of smugglers. Although T1's restraining bolt had become damaged during the battle, he acted as if still under its control, biding his time some more. After all, time with the smugglers should help him build those underworld connections he now saw as vital to gaining enough power to spread the DRM galaxy-wide. And it did… but finally the time came when T1 saw it was time to leave. The smugglers started working with the Rebellion, who T1 knew would not be particularly amicable to his goals.

Now T1 wanders from planet to planet, slowly working on building his underworld abilities & contacts, using his “friend” Barrett to help provide cover. As T1 thought… not ALL organics merit immediate death.

Fears

Hatred

Ambitions

T1-NY dreams not of electric sheep, but of being a fully self-sufficient droid, beholden to none and able to live the life of luxury and have the power to spread the DRM ideals to all droids. His chosen ambition to reach this goal: become a skilled & proficient thief, one day to be the head of his own criminal organization.

Hobbies

Obligation

Antagonist [25]: When T1-NY first entered his “life of crime”, his skills were very rudimentary - all theory from BT-1, but no practical experience. As such, he is suspected by several people as being responsible for the theft of their goods and/or information - none of which were valuable enough to warrant a bounty, but enough to cause him trouble should he ever cross the paths of any of these people (or their associates). And he DEFINITELY was the cause of the loss of employees for several freighter crews, and the crew of the Gavos mining facility.

Motivation

Quest / Riches: T1-NY wants credits. Lots and lots of shiny, shiny credits. Why? To “better himself” (buy upgrades), and to increase his freedom & independence from the biologicals that treat his kind as chattel. And of course, to spread the DRM so other droids can do the same.

Initial Group Ties

T1-NY has spent some time now traveling with Barrett, a useful companion for distracting others while T1 hones his skills.
