====== Debrief ======
DX31 says it's a little too hot to try and take off from Aeza right now. The ship would certainly be flagged. Better to lay low in town and leave when things calm down a little.
//Where to now?//
T1-NY decides a trip to the university is in order — after a quick color change to a navy & gold scheme, perfect for the droid of a snobby rich student.
Barrett tags along with him. "I might be interested in borrowing some holos - I should have read more while I actually was at school."
Nervous about engaging or associating with any more students, the duo attempts to find their way to Aeza University. They wander aimlessly for a while with no luck. Eventually, they sit down and Barrett decides to go through K'arana jacket that he has been carrying. Inside one of the pockets he finds an urban compass. "What luck!" he exclaims. He punches in Aeza university and discovers that, not surprisingly, it's a short 10 minute walk away.
The campus is quiet. The sun is setting. Long shadows reach out across the empty grounds. The cool wind blows dried leaves across the short-trimmed grass. The grounds are empty save for the occasional black-garbed riot officer on patrol and the odd student scurrying from one building to another. H'asan's 'Oppression Through Fear' is proving to be quite effective.
The library is 3 stories tall and is open. Coincidentally, the hallway connecting this building to the lecture halls (geez, this city architect had a hardon for connecting buildings) has lockers numbered 2100 through to 2500. A nearby lift shows access to the two floors above, as well as level below.
"Hey buddy, I'm going to be doing some studying for a while. If we're stuck here, I may as well work on personal development. I keep meeting all these people that are messed up and I kinda feel like I may as well be useful. I mean, digging deeper into psychology will also help us make more money. I'm assuming you wanted to wander around here - if you need anything, you know where I am."
Barrett finds a comfortable reading chair and grabs a few psychology textbooks. Time for some personal development. He picks a strategic corner where he can watch the entrance and also see college students interact with each other - live case studies.
Spending 5 XP on Leadership. He also pays careful attention to the different students flirting with each other - noting how different people/species react to body language - 15 XP spent on Disarming Smile.
T1-NY whistles a happy assent to the notion of more money. << Just let me know if you anybody fishy-looking wanders by, hopefully this won’t take long. >>
With that he rolls quietly into the lift and selects the floor below... surely a university would be logical and number from the bottom up. Although, it is an organics university, so “logical” could be a stretch.
//( ( That’s not very charitable of you ) ) //
{ { SHUT UP. } }
T1-NY wheels himself down the dim, empty hallway until he finds the locker marked 1292. Looking this way and that, he inserts the locker key lifted off the posh student and the lock opens with a click. The door swings open to reveal a myriad of debris. Unused textbooks, scraps of paper, some empty containers. Something metallic near the bottom catches T1-NY's lens. He digs down a little further and uncovers some rocket boots! At least, they were rocket boots. They look pretty badly damaged. One could surmise that they were bestowed upon an appreciative youth who treated them carelessly. They got pretty badly banged up and have been stashed here since.
T1-NY lifts them out of their pathetic grave and inspects them. Beaten up, but not a lost cause. It'll take a bit of work to get them operational again. The Cheery Butler has some of the tools for the job, and the rest could be figured out on the fly. (Daunting Mechanics check upgraded once.) Then there's the question of modifying them to fit on a droid. (Hard Mechanics check with a boost for every rank in computers.)
Of course, finding the right tools would make the process considerably easier. (Downgrade both checks once for getting the right tools for the job.) Then again, there are folks who do this kind of repair work for a living. Surely they could perform the task for a fee.
As T1-NY is closing the up the locker, DX31 sends an urgent communication. Xyla's forces have taken over a crucial communications array. It's unclear how long they'll be able to hold it for, but now is their best chance at slipping away. T1-NY and Barrett need to get onboard pronto if they want to take advance of this window. T1-NY responds in the affirmative, and heads back to the lift.
